Reactivating the Steering Wheel Controls in Renault Clio
Renault Clio owners know this well: When the original cassette player is removed and replaced with a different audio system, the steering wheel controls lose functionality. This is a very frustrating situation for most users. However, I’ve developed a practical solution to this problem. Thanks to my steering wheel control adapter, the Clio’s steering wheel controls can be reactivated. Moreover, this method can be easily applied even if you don’t have any technical knowledge.
Currently, the adapter only supports Pioneer CD player compatibility and Sony CD player connection. No work has been done for other brands.
Removing the Clio Cassette Player and Connecting the Steering Wheel Control Adapter
First, the cassette player must be removed. In Renault Clio models, the original cassette players can be easily detached. Once the removal process is complete, you’ll find a yellow socket with six differently colored wires coming from the cassette player.
The steering wheel control adapter I’ve prepared also has cables with the same colors. All you need to do is match and connect the adapter cables with the socket cables by color. This completes the first stage.
The adapter has a 3.5 mm jack cable. You plug this jack into the W/R (Wired Remote) input located at the back of your newly installed CD player.
Important note: Your CD player must have a “W/R” input on the back. If this input is missing, the connection won’t work.
This method works successfully, especially with Pioneer CD players and Sony CD players that support wired remote control.

No compatibility testing has been done for other brands. Due to differences in control protocols across systems, I currently only offer a solution for Pioneer and Sony users.
