Recently, I experienced an issue with the navigation system in my Fiat Tipo. It was showing my location incorrectly, constantly rerouting, and not working properly. When I encountered this problem, I thought the map needed updating and took the car to the service center. They said they would perform a Fiat Tipo navigation update, and the update was applied. However, the problem was not completely resolved.
The service staff told me that if the issue persisted, I could download the maps online and update using a USB drive. However, they didn’t explain this process in detail. So, I started researching. After long and unsuccessful searches online, I searched in English using the Fiat Tipo’s international name. Finally, I found the solution and now I’m sharing it with you step by step!
Steps Required for Fiat Tipo Navigation Update
1. Prepare a USB Drive
Get a USB drive with at least 16 GB capacity.
Completely empty the USB drive and format it as FAT32.
2. Access the Mopar Map Website
Go to https://maps.mopar.eu/.
The site will appear in Italian. Select English from the top left corner.
Create an account and log in.
3. Register Your Vehicle
After logging in, go to the “ADD VEHICLE” section.
Enter your vehicle’s VIN number found on the windshield in the “ENTER THE VIN” field and press “OK”.
4. Download Map and License Files
After a few seconds, your current map information will appear.
Click the “DOWNLOAD LICENSE” and “DOWNLOAD MAP” buttons to download the necessary files.
The map file is approximately 7 GB in size.
5. Transfer the Files to USB Drive
The map file you downloaded will be in .rar format. Extract this file.
Copy the extracted map and license files directly to the root directory of the USB drive. Do not create a separate folder on the USB.
6. Start the Update in Your Vehicle
Get into your vehicle, start the engine, and turn on the radio.
Insert the prepared USB drive into the vehicle’s USB port.
A prompt for update will appear on the screen; select “Yes” to start the process.
The update process can take about 30 minutes or a bit longer. It is recommended to perform this before going on a long trip.
